Solomon, who has always favored vintage tube amps, was blown away by his new EBS Classic 450 Bass Head. According to Solomon, "It looks vintage and it sounds vintage. The amp produces tons of powerful low end with a vicious growl. The only difference is that I don't have to worry about it breaking down every night."

July 2009

Marcel Jacob 1964-2009

It is with great sadness we recieved the news that our friend and long time EBS Artist Marcel Jacob passed away on July 21, at the age of 45. Marcel was a fantastic bass player and musician that helped put Swedish hard rock and metal on the map with his early commitment as bass player for Yngwie Malmsteen in the 80’s (as well as a short period with Europe). In 1988 Marcel formed the band Talisman along with his friend and singer Jeff Scott Soto. Talisman became his main gig for his last 20 years – saluted with a big Anniversary gig at the Sweden Rock Festival 2007.  Marcel also performed as a solo bass player at the EBS Bass n Drum Days, a yearly event that was arranged between 2001 – 2007. Our thoughts goes to Marcel Jacob’s family and close friends.

EBS Artists at the Grammy Awards

Zappa Plays Zappa won the Grammy for Best Rock Instrumental Performance recently. Here's what bass player Pete Griffin has to say about his EBS pedals: "I'm loving the EBS Black Label Pedals! The UniChorus can produce such a wide array of tones, I've never heard an octaver track like the OctaBass and the BassIQ is very easy to use and just as juicy sounding as my vintage Mu-Tron, but smaller. The Micro Bass II has saved my butt a few times on the road, I use it to balance the sounds of my different basses onstage, and being able to dial in the amount of effects loop helps keep a good fundamental tone even with all my effects."

Also congrats to EBS Pedal Artist Mr Hardgroove for his performance on Burning Spears 'Jah Is Real' who won the Grammy for Best Reggae Album.
